Trustees Unlimited (TU) was created in 2009 as a joint venture bringing together the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), Bates Wells (a leading law firm) and Russam. Its creation disrupted and shaped the trustee recruitment market in the UK. In 2014, it transformed he corporate talent development market with the creation of Step on board.

Trustees Unlimited is a founding UK B Corporation. It has recruited hundreds of board members to a wide range of organisations. TU has also set up and runs the Step on Board programme, the leading senior level employee engagement programme which to date has helped c. 400 senior leaders from organisations such as Google, EY, Credit Suisse, Deloitte, and Barclays become Trustees; it is currently working with 11 major organisations.

Following a lengthy period of collaboration, in January 2021, Trustees Unlimited became a wholly owned member of the Russam group. The organisation continues to work closely with NCVO and Bates Wells across several areas including delivering services.
