Interview with Jean-Marc Finet at x-pm on The WIL Group africa desk

After spending the last 15 years with X-PM, I have acquired some experience when it comes to business transformation and interim management.

And since 2017, I have worked on a large number of assignments that took place in various countries in Africa. So when it came to launching the WIL Group’s Africa desk, Patrick Laredo approached me.

In its infancy when it comes to interim management, Africa presents an exciting market for the Group, and I am looking forward to developing the desk to its full potential.

To support that, I’d argue that we have a large number of interim executives across the WIL Group portfolio with experience working in Africa. And many international companies wanting to develop their activities on this promising continent seek experienced Western managers to help support their establishment or burgeoning growth.

But they also want to progressively “africanize” their organisation chart: therefore, we have already begun to establish partnerships with local partners, specialised in recruiting local talent — including AIMS in South Africa

Today, we’re systematically meeting with large international firms and beginning to market the Group’s African capabilities to them by identifying the representative in charge of their Africa operations – in order to create a personalised approach.

We are already beginning to see opportunities in countries like Ghana, South Africa, the Ivory Coast, Algeria and Nigeria. Despite its infancy, big companies are open to the opportunities presented by interim management for helping them to accelerate their growth and succeed in their large projects.

It’s great to be able to start marketing the new desk to our WIL Group partners and we look forward to keeping you updated on its progress.
