Five ways to achieve successful collaboration

Andrew Stewart from A.T, Kearney recently gave a presentation to WIL Group partners in which he stated that: "collaboration is about breaking down the barriers, and building trust in order to create the perfect culture."


A.T. Kearney has 56 offices located in major business centres in 40 countries with more than 3,500 staff. Collaboration is clearly no easy task, but during his presentation, Andrew Stewart highlighted how the company is doing it - successfully.


He went on to explain that the more people collaborate (the bigger the collaboration), then the average profitability can also increase by up to 15% with client satisfaction improving by 30%. And for A. T. Kearney this has also led to larger engagements and less employee attrition.


Here, we highlight his five key points for successful collaboration: 


Ø Have a strategy, and one that leads to intent

Ø Possess the knowledge, which this will demonstrate a true and deep understanding

Ø Follow processes and make the most of any support provided

Ø Ensure all incentives are truly aligned

Ø Pay close attention to culture, which will ultimately create trust


Andrew's parting comment was the need to develop real trust, and therefore a strong culture. At the end of the day, foundations built on trust will - undoubtedly - lead to successful collaborations...
